Las Vegas Thanksging Weekend Guide 2009 is your source to what is happening in Vegas that holiday weekend including where to eat; where to shop on Black Friday; and what shows and entertainment are available that weekend.  First, a little information on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday.  With Thanksgiving being celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in 2009 it will be celebrated on November 26 in Las Vegas.  Thanksgiving is traditionally thought as of giving thanks for a bountiful harvest but today is also more of a general thanks for everything.  This is one of the busiest travel weeks durning the year. Traditionally, people eat Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatos, sweet corn, mashed potatos, cranberry sauce, fall vegetables, and pumpkin pie.  The day is also when many cities have Thanksgiving Day Parades.  The evening after dinner and throughout most of weekend is also spent watching high school, college, and professional sports specifically football. The Friday after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest shopping days of the year is called Black Friday.  The sales usually extend through the weekend and now some retailers have been open on Thanksgiving itself.

 

Las Vegas while not thought of as your traditional Thanksgiving destination does have much to offer on this holiday weekend. The casinos are obviously very busy with all the football games to be on.

Many well known entertainers will have Thanksgiving Day shows in Las Vegas.  George Wallace will be at the Flamingo on this day.  The Mac King Comedy Magic Show will be at Harrah's Las Vegas.  Anthony Cools who is a hypnotis will be at Paris, Las Vegas.  Pann and Teller will be at the Rio on Thanksgiving Day. Gordie Brown who does comedy, music, and impressions will perform at 7:30pm on Thanksgiving Day at the Golden Nugget.  CRISS ANGEL Believe™ by Cirque du Soleil is at the Luxor Hotel & Casino at 7pm on Thanksgiving Day while Carrot Top, the famous comic is playing there at 8:30pm. David Copperfield, the famed magician will be at the MGM Grand on Thanksgiving Day.  Terry Fator and His Cast of Thousands will perform at The Mirage at 7:30 on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th.  On Thanksgiving Day at the Monte Carlo, Lance Burton will perform at 7pm.

Las Vegas on Black Friday has many places to shop including many malls and outlets.  Many of the stores in the malls will have special Black Friday sales and sales throughout the holiday weekend.  Several of the outlets and mall by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority are offering a special promotion called Shop 'Til It Is Show Time starting on Nov 29 and running through Dec 13, if you spented $500 or more at these outlets and malls, you receive 2 tickets to your choice of shows including the following Vegas shows: Phantom of the Opera, Blue Man Group, George Wallace, Donny & Marie, Penn & Teller, Peep Show or Human Nature.  There are restrictions on who qualifies including must have an out-of-state government issued ID.

The District at Green Valley Ranch which is located at 2240 Village Walk Dr. Henderson, NV 89052 is another place for after Thanksgiving Day shoppers.  The stores available here include: Ann Taylor Loft, Brighton, Colorz, Francesca’s Collections, Magnolia Lane, Pottery Barn, The Walking Company, and West elm.  One of the events scheduled for Friday, November 27 is LIGHTING OF THE ALL-NEW CHRISTMAS TREE AND SANTA'S ARRIVAL. Other events include on November 27 and 28, MY GYM CHILDREN'S FITNESS CENTER  from 10am to 2pm will host two special free plays and on November 28 the COFFEE BEAN & TEA LEAF from 12pm to 2pm will host a book signing with author of  'Amelia's Long Journey.'

 

MonteLago Village Resort is located at 30 Strada di Villaggio  Henderson, NV 89011 USA and is a popular place for Black Friday weekend sales.  The stores available include: Cathay Las Vegas, Flights of Fancy, Mishegoss, Silver Sassy, Sixth Sense Bookstore, Tesoro, Turquoise Door, Tutto, and  Village Galleries. On Saturday November 28, there will be Strolling Carolers and Take Your Picture with Santa from 2pm to 5pm. 

 

 

The Fremont Street Experience will include the following shows on Black Friday and the entire weekend: Carl Ferris will perform with his saxophone from 7pm to 10pm; Candy and the Canes will perform at 7:30pm and 9:30pm, Jim Rouven Present Death-Defying Illusions will be perform at 8pm and 10pm and Riders of the Thunderdome will be performed at 10:15pm.

 

Terry Fator and His Cast of Thousands will perform at the Mirage on November 27th and 28th.  Jay Leno will perform at The Mirage Las Vegas on November 27th and 28th at 10pm.  At the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino, Lance Burton and Frank Caliendo will perform on November 27th and 28th.  Zowie Brown will perform at the Monte Carlo on November 29th.  At Bally's, The Price Is Right Live! will be going on November 27th and 28th. Also at Bally's,  Jubilee! will be performed on November 28th and 29th.

 

At the Mirage,  The Beatles™ Love™ Cirque du Soleil® will be performed on Black Friday, November 27, and also on the 28th and 29th of November at 7:00pm and 9:30pm.  At the Bellagio, 'O' BY CIRQUE DU SOLEIL will play the entire weekend.

 

At the Boulder Station casino, the following shows are available: Sin City Sinners; Friday 11pm to 2pm; Yellow Brick Road: Saturday 11pm to 2am and Latin Night with Noche Nortena: Sunday 9:00pm - 3:30am.  At Caesars Palace, on Friday Hins Cheung will perform while on Saturday and Sunday, Cher will be in concert.  The Flamingo Las Vegas will have several shows including Donny and Marie, George Wallace, Nathan Burton, and Vinnie Favorito.
